00:03If you missed it, it's the latest huge trend of mainly beauty influencers

00:07transforming their faces into something that isn't quite their face.

00:12And a lot of the videos are set to the song Lockjaw by Sir Mix-a-Lot from 1992,

00:16which is kind of an insane archive pull, but I love it.

00:19Let's look at some of these transformations together.

00:22I feel like the rubric for if these are successful or not is

00:25if the police would find you if you were wanted for a crime,

00:28and this one definitely passes that test.

00:30That is a completely different person.

00:31If anything, this trend just highlights to me how little I know about makeup.

00:37I know that people are true artists with it,

00:39but this is like shapeshifting to an insane degree.

00:42And I think it highlights just how much effort and work

00:46goes into makeup skills like this.

00:49I feel like it easily gets dismissed as a hobby,

00:52like a woman's hobby or something that you have to do

00:54in order to have cachet in this world.

00:56But it's truly like an artistic skill.

00:59That is like a painting.

01:01That is a painting on a 3D surface.

01:03These people should be working for the spy division of the CIA

01:07to help people transform to go undercover.

01:10Because like, insane.

01:12This one to me highlights how important hair color is in this also,

01:16because the tone of the hair just completely changes their face too.

01:19But I also want to talk about what the word unrecognizable is doing here,

01:23because you see this word a lot on social media

01:26when people are talking about self-improvement or wellness

01:29and like a winter arc, if you've ever heard of that.

01:31And I get that it's like sort of a dramatic word

01:34to like call attention to like changes you want to make in your life.

01:38And like, this is pretty good and normal advice,

01:41but I don't know, I take issue with the word unrecognizable a little bit

01:46because it's like, you hopefully like yourself.

01:50Maybe you just want to have better habits,

01:53but you want your friends to be able to recognize you.

01:55I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it.

01:57But you see this word all the time and I don't know, it kind of grinds my gears.

02:01But in terms of these amazing makeup transformations, I get it.

02:05So, slay on.
