00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attended the Open Government Partnership Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting

00:06to discuss the challenges that each region is facing in the country.

00:11Clayzel Cordilla with the report.

00:16Open and fair administration.

00:19That is the direction of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

00:23that he gave in the Open Government Partnership or OGP Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting

00:29The Philippines is the host of the OGP International Gathering and Initiative

00:34that aims to make the government's service to the public transparent, accountable, and effective.

00:41That is through the opening of the door of the government to civil society groups

00:47in the formation of policies, projects, and programs of the government.

00:52We want every budget allocation, policy decision, and program implementation

00:57to involve public participation.

01:00All in pursuit to the empowerment and to the upliftment of our people.

01:05Under the new Philippines, the executive branch of the government

01:11that oversees the Open Government,

01:14including the digitalization of government agencies to open the red tape,

01:19to eliminate repeated expenses,

01:21to correctly and properly manage the fund of the government.

01:25The new Government Procurement Act was also passed

01:29that obliges the public to provide information to the products or services that the government will buy

01:35to avoid corruption.

01:37Under the Executive Order No. 31 of 2023,

01:41the institutionalization of the Philippine Open Government Partnership

01:46that supports the open and responsible government

01:50and resulted in the Philippine economy

01:53being the 13th in 100 countries leading

01:57in public participation in Southeast Asia.

02:02Through these efforts, we have been recognized globally.

02:06These initiatives stem from our belief that by creating spaces

02:10for civic engagement at all levels of our society,

02:14we can truly create transformative and impactful changes

02:18down to the grassroots level.

02:20Four thousand government officials,

02:23leaders of civil society and policy makers

02:26from all over the world

02:29attend high-level meetings,

02:31breakout sessions,

02:32and side events that address the economy,

02:35the fight against corruption,

02:37and digitalization.
