चेन्नई. ग्रैंडमास्टर रमेशबाबू प्रग्गनानंदा विश्व चैंपियन डी गुकेश को हराकर टाटा स्टील शतरंज टूर्नामेंट जीतने के बाद चेन्नई लौट आए। एयरपोर्ट पर उन्होंने कहा कि मैं इस टूर्नामेंट को जीतकर बहुत खुश हूं और यह देखकर बहुत अच्छा लगा कि दो भारतीय, दो तमिलनाडु के लोगों ने अंत में टाई-ब्रेक में खेला। हम दोनों ने अच्छा खेला। उनको (डी गुकेश) भी बहुत-बहुत बधाई, उन्होंने वाकई बहुत अच्छा खेला। दरअसल, शतरंज ग्रैंडमास्टर आर. प्रग्गनानंदा ने 2 फरवरी को नीदरलैंड में टाटा स्टील मास्टर्स शतरंज टूर्नामेंट जीता, उन्होंने विश्व चैंपियन डी गुकेश को टाईब्रेकर में 2-1 से हराया। वहीं, चेन्नई एयरपोर्ट पर तमिलनाडु खेल विकास प्राधिकरण (एसडीएटी) के अधिकारी शतरंज ग्रैंडमास्टर आर. प्रग्गनानंदा का नीदरलैंड से स्वागत किया। इस दौरान ग्रैंडमास्टर प्रग्गनानंदा ने कहा मेरे लिए 2024 का अंत अच्छा नहीं रहा इसलिए मैंने इसके (टूर्नामेंट) लिए कड़ी मेहनत की। मैं इस साल की इतनी शानदार शुरुआत कर खुश हूं। गुकेश ने भी अच्छा खेला। यह एक रोमांचक टाईब्रेकर था।
प्रग्गनानंदा ने आगे कहा, गुकेश द्वारा विश्व चैम्पियनशिप जीतना या अर्जुन एरिगैसी द्वारा 2800 (शास्त्रीय शतरंज में एलो रेटिंग) को पार करना जैसे अन्य भारतीय शतरंज खिलाडिय़ों के परिणामों ने मुझे और अधिक मेहनत करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। दूसरा कारण यह था कि मैं अपने खेल से खुश नहीं था। मैं बेहतर खेलना चाहता था। इसलिए मैंने अभ्यास जारी रखा। उन्होंने कहा, मैं हर टूर्नामेंट में अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ देना चाहता हूं। मैं इस टूर्नामेंट से आत्मविश्वास हासिल करूंगा। हमने (उसके और गुकेश ने) खेलों के बारे में बहुत कम बात की।

01:13And you said last year there was some kind of stagnation. Even Adi Sir had said you were lagging a bit behind. So how did you motivate yourself? You said you were motivated, but how did you push? What was the motivating factor behind it?
01:43So you mentioned earlier that it was a very stressful day after finishing the finals of Prague Masters.
02:13Yeah, a very long day, and basically I had to play this long, classical and suffering game, which in itself is very tiring, plus the 12 rounds before that, and then I had to play the tie-break, so it was a very, very long day, and very stressful for sure.

03:29It's still a long way. First I need to make it to the Candidates, then win it, so I want to take one stage at a time.
