Don Lemon is firing back at Kanye West’s Grammy rant against him ... telling us he doesn’t get why the rapper had to throw a racial slur into the mix.

00:04And we told you that they had a whole showdown at the Grammys.

00:07Kanye didn't ask, like, a question that Don asked,

00:09even though it was completely innocent.

00:11Kanye was wrong on that.

00:12Don never said what Kanye said.

00:13Yeah, exactly.

00:14So Kanye had wrong information, but he used an epithet,

00:19the C word.

00:21A racial epithet.

00:22In referring to Don Lemon.

00:24So we got Don at LAX as he was getting out of town

00:28and asked him about that showdown

00:30and why he was so upset about it.

00:33I just asked him music questions and, you know, fine.

00:36If he didn't want to talk, he didn't want to talk.

00:38He didn't have to post that stuff about me

00:49It may be even a worse insult among black people

00:53Because with the N word, you know,

00:54you say it a lot in rap music and it's a, you know,

00:56not a hard R, but with that word among black people,
