00:00Well, I was always very honest when I talked with production about not wanting to go down on a sinking ship.
00:07And I felt that Vanderpump Rules, it was at its high. It had been nominated for Emmys.
00:13We had great ratings, but I felt we told the story.
00:17And I thought there was some point that it became a little bit more complicated to film.
00:24You know, people didn't want to film with each other. The dynamic was broken. It was shattered.
00:30In so many ways. And I thought it was time to do something new.
00:34And I felt that we had many talks about it.
00:38The restaurant business is to actually have access to a restaurant.
00:42It's a very unusual situation. Most people wouldn't do it or couldn't do it.
00:47So the whole restaurant business, the more working together and the nightlife is always fascinating.
00:53You could have filmed Vanderpump Rules probably seven days a week, you know, 52 weeks a year.
00:59I mean, because the stories keep going.
01:02So I knew we had another group of cohesive people, you know, together that had worked here for years.
01:10So I thought, OK, let's put them on camera, see what the network think.
01:15And they love them.
01:16But the authenticity was key to me.
01:18I didn't want to start again and try and, you know, get a group of people together and have them start working for me.
01:23That wouldn't have worked.
01:24And also Gen Z are very different.
01:28They're very, very outspoken.
01:30They want to get their opinion out.
01:32They're very forthright.
01:33And I think that social media wasn't around when we first started Vanderpump Rules.
01:39We'd only just kind of heard of Twitter.
01:41So now they're so used to everything being on camera that cameras weren't really a shock to them, how they were to the first group.
01:49Because they're always videoing themselves and putting things on Instagram and seeing how they look and got their lights.
01:54I mean, these people, some of them, you know, these young Gen Z, not just here, they walk around with their own ring lights and things, you know, ready to look their best and get their opinion out there.
02:04And it's like, whoa.
02:05So that's changed very much through the last, you know, 13 years.
02:11So, yeah, that was surprising to me that they were so relaxed in front of cameras.
02:15Also, they were available emotionally to share the vulnerabilities.
02:24There's some very interesting personal stories here.
02:28One thing right now, I like all of them very much.
02:32And I said to them, you know what, in a year's time, you're all going to be a pain in my ass because that's the way I know the show's a success.
