00:00The Senate approved the Panucalan Franchise Renewal of Meranco.

00:04Eighteen Senators voted in favor of the Panucalan while one abstained.

00:09A new 25-year franchise was introduced in Meranco under the Senate bill.

00:15Senator Risa Ontiveros abstained in reading the Panucalan law.

00:21According to the Senator, Meranco is against their obligation.

00:26It continues, this is where the high price of electric bills is.

00:30We believe that we can improve the service of Meranco

00:36and the better and better price of electricity.

00:42So again, Mr. President, we stand by our yes vote knowing that this measure

00:46not only renews a franchise but also strengthens our country's energy security.

00:52Hindi pwede na mauwi sa move on at limot ang mga pagkakamali at pagkukulang ng Meranco.

01:01Meranco has throughout the years failed to abide by its obligations in serving consumers

01:08as reflected by our excessively high electricity bills.
