00:00Morning. There's a band of rain crossing the country today.
00:03So we'll all see a little bit at some point.
00:06Certainly a soggy start for much of southern Scotland.
00:09Metal Face Yellow warning in place across Dumfries and Galloway.
00:12That rain clearing away there from northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:15Some showers will follow in behind here, turning wet across Wales.
00:19A pretty soggy morning for west Wales.
00:21That rain moving into Devon and Cornwall and across northwest England too.
00:25Much of eastern England starting a bit murky,
00:27but probably brightening up a little through the day.
00:29Eventually, that rain will trickle into the Midlands and more central parts of southern England.
00:33But as you can see, it's kind of weakening.
00:35It gets narrower as it does so.
00:37It should clear away from Wales and much of southern Scotland.
00:40So brighter skies here to end the day, but still plenty of showers packing in on a fairly brisk breeze.
00:46And it's really quite windy around this line of rain as well.
00:49So that's going to make it feel cool, even though temperatures will generally be above average.
00:54And for many, we'll see highs into double digits, 10 or 11, maybe 12, where we see a little bit of brightness.
01:00That rain will spread into eastern England, but continuing to fizzle out.
01:04So just a little damp and drizzly this evening for east Anglia and the southeast.
01:07But some lively showers will continue to track into western Scotland.
01:12Some hail and thunder possibly mixed in with those.
01:15And a few of those lively showers getting into the north of Northern Ireland,
01:18maybe some into northwest England through the night.
01:20For a good chunk of the country, though, it will be a dry night with some clearer spells.
01:24And it will be perhaps a little colder than the night just gone.
01:28Most towns and cities staying a few degrees above freezing.
01:31But certainly in the countryside, there will be some pockets of frost to start tomorrow morning.
01:35But for many of us, we'll start off with a bit of sunshine, too.
01:38And for quite a few, it'll stay that way throughout the day.
01:41Yes, a few showers drifting into northwest England.
01:44The odd one for Wales and southwest England.
01:46And certainly showers will come and go through the day across western Scotland.
01:50But for many elsewhere, dry and bright.
01:52Certainly not expecting many showers for eastern Scotland.
01:55Sunny spells here, much of eastern England, too.
01:58So a dry and bright day for a good chunk.
01:59Not as windy, although still enough of a breeze to feed those showers through
02:04into the north coast of Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
02:07A colder day. Temperatures, though, still around average.
02:10Eight, nine, maybe ten Celsius across the southwest.
02:13But certainly a fresher feel because that cold front is moving through,
02:18introducing slightly cooler air.
02:20But it's going to get colder still.
02:22If we rewind to Tuesday evening, to this evening, there's that cold front pushing its way away.
02:27Behind that, high pressures moving in.
02:30But the winds are coming in from the west.
02:33But watch what happens through the rest of the week.
02:35The high really builds in across the UK, bringing a lot of dry and fine weather for Wednesday and Thursday.
02:42And then the high starts to drift away, meander up towards Scandinavia.
02:46And when we have high pressure over Scandinavia, with the winds going clockwise around it,
02:51that means they'll start coming in from the east.
02:54So a complete switch around in wind direction between today and Friday and Saturday.
02:59And easterly winds at this time of year, well, they are going to bring a chill.
03:03So temperatures are going to be dropping off quite a bit as we head towards the end of this week,
03:07with widespread frosts returning, noticeably colder by day as well.
03:12For more on that, you can watch our full week ahead video that Aidan recorded yesterday.
03:16That's available on our YouTube channel.
