00:00 Hello, very good morning to you. Alex Berkhill here again with your latest
00:03 Matt Office weather update. We are going to see a change to something colder for
00:07 many of us, but before then we have some rain around in association with a front
00:11 that is pushing its way southwards. As that clears away towards the south as we
00:15 go into tomorrow, it will allow for cold air to spread across much of the UK. As a
00:20 weather system then pushes into that colder air across the country on
00:24 Thursday, it brings the risk of some disruptive snow, particularly across
00:27 central parts. But for the time being, it's rain that's affecting southern
00:32 Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland this morning. That rain will feed
00:36 further southwards as we go through the day, spreading into central England and
00:39 Wales. Could see some high rainfall totals building up across parts of Wales.
00:42 A drier picture for more southern counties, albeit a rather cloudy story
00:47 here. All the time watch out for some blustery winds. The best chance of seeing
00:51 any sunshine this afternoon will be across Northern Ireland once that rain
00:54 clears away, and also some sunny spells in between any wintry showers across
00:59 parts of Scotland too. A real north-south contrast in our temperatures today
01:03 though chilly in the north, some places staying in low to mid single figures for
01:07 northern Scotland. Much milder further south, highs of around 13 or 14 Celsius.
01:11 Later on, this band of rain continues to edge further southwards, could bring a
01:16 pretty wet end to the day across southern counties, and some of that rain
01:19 is going to linger through much of the night across the far south. Otherwise
01:23 though, often clear skies spreading down from the north in that colder air, and
01:27 with that then temperatures are going to take quite a drop, falling several
01:31 degrees below freezing across parts of Scotland. A harsh frost here and also
01:35 some icy patches to watch out for. Staying a bit milder further south,
01:38 especially across the far south where that front's likely to still be
01:41 lingering. Temperatures only dropping to around 7 or 8 Celsius here. As we wake up
01:46 on Wednesday then, a bit of a damp start across the far south, and in fact there's
01:50 the potential that we could see some of that rain lingering across the far south
01:54 through much of the day, before a bit more rain starts to push in from the
01:57 southwest as we go through the afternoon. A brighter, drier story elsewhere further
02:02 north, still a scattering of showers across parts of Scotland, and these could
02:05 be a little bit wintry at times, but like I say, a greater chance of seeing some
02:09 fine sunny weather at times too. Again, it's going to be a chilly feel in the
02:14 north, and in fact that chillier air would have spread a bit further
02:17 southward, so central parts a bit chillier than they have been recently.
02:20 Still just about getting into double figures across the far south, but it is
02:24 going to be cloudy and a bit wet at times here too. We will have more
02:28 information about the risk of some significant snow, which is possible come
02:32 Thursday in our deep dive, which will be available with Aidan on our YouTube
02:35 channel later this afternoon. Bye bye.
