00:00Hello there, welcome to another episode of Putting Dr G on the Spot.

00:04In the month of February, we'll continue this whole idea and whole journey of reducing bad

00:10habits in life for a betterment of health, especially sexual and reproductive health.

00:16And this week, we're contemplating whether vaping is a better alternative than smoking.

00:22So, vaping is also considered a nicotine-delivering system.

00:33And basically, this nicotine-delivering system is trying to supply nicotine

00:39allegedly without the harmfulness of other components in cigarette smoking.

00:45So, is nicotine harmful for sexual health?

00:48In fact, there are a few studies that demonstrated that men who vapes with extra

00:53amount of nicotine might impact on their erections.

00:58Exactly how that's affected, nobody knows.

01:01But we know that chemically, nicotine will have an impact on nitric oxide system,

01:08which is the delivering system for basal dilation that is crucial for erectile function.

01:14And another Italian study interestingly demonstrated that between men who vapes

01:19and men who don't vapes, the men who vapes actually have a smaller testicle.

01:25Why is that the case?

01:26Actually, we don't know.

01:28And for these men, when you analyze their sexual and reproductive health,

01:32you realize that the actual quality of sperm is reduced, the amount of ejaculation is reduced,

01:39the sperm number is reduced, and also the morphology and mortality

01:45is significantly reduced in the vaping community.

01:49So, exactly how and also the long-term impact of vaping is completely unknown.

01:55But what we know is that the longer you vape,

01:59the higher chance of erectile dysfunction and also infertility.

02:03So, men who really are contemplating cessation of smoking,

02:08don't just end smoking, end vaping as well.

02:11Because if you can overcome that withdrawal,

02:14then you have a much better overall health and sexual and reproductive health.

02:19So, venturing into Chinese New Year, we are talking about more bad habits for you to get rid of.

02:26Another really bad habit that perhaps is haunting you during Chinese New Year is alcohol.

02:33So, how is alcohol affecting one's sexual and reproductive health?
