00:00We are going to explore various forms of bad habits in lifestyle that can impair your sexual

00:07and reproductive health and using the beginning of year and Chinese New Year to use it as

00:12a way to have a New Year resolution to cut down on these bad habits.

00:18And one important one is alcohol consumption.

00:27So alcohol is well known to cause several things, number one its suppressive effect

00:33might actually get somebody to have a high risk taking behaviour during sex, however

00:40it also will have a suppressive impact on the erectile tissues.

00:45So many men who when take too much alcohol may experience a terminology called whiskey

00:52dick.

00:53What does that mean?

00:54In fact the suppressive effect in the brain will also suppress the blood supply into the

00:59erectile tissues and whiskey dick is actually known to have a temporary effect in a short

01:04term impact on sexual health.

01:07Secondly, in a more longer consumption of alcohol, the liver function test might be

01:15affected and men might undergo problem with cirrhosis.

01:19Men with cirrhosis will have suppressed level of testosterone and elevate level of estrogen.

01:27What impact has that on you?

01:29It will suppress your libido.

01:31So its well known that men attend alcoholic recovery therapy, actually they will improve

01:39their sexual function especially the libido and men continue to drink alcohol will have

01:45a very low libido.

01:47Worse still, once the consumption of alcohol is increased, then the sperm quality is reducing.

01:56The spermatic cells in the testicles are actually not very forgiving for two components, cigarettes

02:02and alcohol.

02:04The consumption of alcohol can suppress spermatogenesis in all parameters, it reduces the number,

02:11the actual mortality and the morphology.

02:14So many men who consume too much alcohol will also undergo a condition called testicular

02:21atrophy and subsequently might render them infertile.
