Green Duck Brewery, Stourbridge have released a beer called Bonks's Solarbeam in honour of Banks's Sunbeam, which will no longer be brewed. Owner Alex Hill tells us all about it.

00:00Okay Alex, so you're the owner of Green Duck Brewery. Yes, I am. Just explain what we've got here, what it's all about.

00:07So we've released a special edition one-off beer called Bonksy's Solar Beam.

00:12It's a bit of fun, obviously it's a bit of a tragedy. It's a great name.

00:16Yeah, Marsden's are losing the brewing in Wolverhampton, a bit of history's going.

00:20So we just thought we'd do a little bit of a tribute beer, a little bit of fun on our part.

00:24It's been a really good fun beer to brew and everyone seems to be really enjoying it, which is nice.

00:29Fantastic. What do you think of the fact that that's not going to be poured any more, the Bonksy's Mild and the Sunbeam?

00:36It's a real shame for local brewing history. I'm sure there's commercial reasons behind it all, but it is a shame.

00:45It's the end of a chapter, but hopefully smaller breweries such as ourselves can capitalise on it for want of a better word

00:52and try and provide people with those classic drinks brewed in the Midlands by people that care about it

00:57and want to keep the Midland brewing scene alive.

01:00What do you think it takes now to keep going as a brewer?

01:04Good question. I think constant innovation, consistency, quality.

01:09People will always vote with their wallets and make sure that what they're drinking is right.

01:14The cost of living has made pubs much more expensive for people to go to,

01:19but we always say support your local, support your local high street.

01:22Keep going out there and talking to people and supporting your local community.

01:25Absolutely. Have you had any good comments about this year?

01:28We've had some really good feedback actually. It's one of our highest rated beers so far this year, so we're dead sure for that.

01:33Yeah, fantastic. Well, I think I'm going to have to sample a bit in a minute.

01:36More than well.
