New sim racing lounge in West Sussex opens

For as little as £10 for 30 minutes, customers can experience the thrill of racing a car, at high speed, around real world tracks – all from the safety of a comfy driving simulator.

00:00My name is Ricky, this is Sabrina, and we are the owners and founders of Just Race Racing Lounge in

00:06Worthing. We're big fans of simulator racing ourselves at home, me and my son, and I was

00:13noticing, especially recently, that the kids nowadays are playing quite isolated, so we thought

00:20why not take the game, the idea, and put it into a more of a family-friendly setting, somewhere

00:27social, so that's where the idea came from originally. We thought it's probably a great

00:32little addition for the area, so we went for it. The feedback's been absolutely amazing so far,

00:37we've had people coming in for like say half an hour or one hour bookings, and when they've left

00:41they've booked a party for their kids, we're getting booked up quite far in advance as well.

00:47We opened on Wednesday the 15th of January, and by the 17th we were fully booked over that opening

00:55weekend, which was great. I think we served something like between 60 and 70 customers just

01:00in that three-day period, which was great. It's an experience that you've definitely got to try once,

01:04even if you're not into say gaming or driving simulation, but we have an age limit from six

01:11and up, so it really is open to anybody. I can almost guarantee once you've sat in front of

01:16that screen and you've done a few laps, you'll be hooked, and you will definitely want to come

01:20and try it again. And it can be as competitive or as relaxed as you want it to be. We don't want it

01:27to feel that you have to do well when you come in here, it's more for the enjoyment

01:33of being somewhere different. It is basically there to simulate driving a car. You have a proper

01:37bucket seat, that's a true-to-life bucket seat that you would find in a race car. We have a force

01:42feedback steering wheel, which is direct drive based, so essentially a massive whacking great

01:47motor with a steering wheel attached to it, and that's what gives back the feedback from the car

01:52traveling around the track in game. So you can feel the bumps, the rumble strips, the grass,

01:58the gravel. You can feel if the car goes light, maybe it starts to spin around on you, you get

02:04all that feedback through the steering wheel. They're incredibly precise and realistic as well,

02:10so you'll find that there's a very good quality set of pedals there. They're there to simulate

02:16pedals that you would find in a real racing car. We have a website which is justrace.co.uk.

02:28very simple to use and you can go on there, choose your time, choose your day and your time slot.
