Bird murals appear on abandoned village houses in Hong Kong

Two British artists, Rob Aspire and Dominic Johnson-Hill, have painted colourful birds on abandoned houses on Hong Kong's Lantau Island, hoping to "bring them back to life" and raise awareness of biodiversity.

00:00Birds are just an obvious choice. They're beautiful and there's a lot of color. They

00:23work very well on these walls. So I've been spending a lot of time walking the area, finding

00:29abandoned buildings, some in quite hard to find places in forests, some are more visible

00:35like this in the village. And what's nice is it's been really well received. And people

00:40feel that we've brought value to the area and we've brought this art and we've seen

00:45tourists coming out to take pictures of them because they've seen them online, which is

00:50nice because they're sharing images of these beautiful birds that fly and live around here.

00:59I think he captures their image in a fantastic way, in a very natural way and spray-painted.

01:24They would be hard enough to paint, brush paint, but to spray paint them, I think it's

01:29a fabulous addition to the neighborhood. I think the goal is to get more of this biodiversity

01:37that we have here on land to have shared and people will hopefully want to protect it.
