00:00I want to get your reaction to this Pete Carroll hire, and I'm not even going to tell you what

00:07I think.

00:08So, I just want to hear it from you, because you can imagine what I think.

00:12You know me now.

00:13I'm not even going to tell you what I've said over and over about this hire, but I want

00:20to see what your opinion of it is from the jump.

00:24I don't think it's the most exciting thing that's ever happened.

00:27Let's get that out of the way.

00:28I think Ben Johnson was the one that they wanted, the slam-dunk, the home-run guy.

00:31That was the way to go, in my opinion, that I thought would have been great.

00:35But this team needs stability.

00:36Like, Pete Carroll does bring that.

00:37I don't think anybody's going to be overly excited about it.

00:38I don't think anybody's going to think they're going to win Super Bowls right away with Pete

00:42Carroll.

00:43But I think this franchise needs credibility and stability, and if he's the guy for two

00:46or three years that can bring that and set up the next guy, I think that might be the

00:50right thing right now.

00:51I don't know.

00:52I don't know what the right move would have been, necessarily, but I don't think it's

00:54the worst thing that could have happened.

00:56I think it's pretty much a dead average hire, to me, in my mind.

00:59So it's like a bridge hire.

01:04That's my thought on it.

01:07What they have right now is nothing good.

01:08There's not a good roster in place.

01:09There's not a quarterback.

01:10They're not making the playoffs.

01:12They're buried behind three teams that have quarterbacks and coaches combinations in place

01:15for a long time.

01:16They're not going to win the Super Bowl right now.

01:18They're not going to win the division right now.

01:20But they need somebody that's going to put the thing in the right spot so that the next

01:24guy can make that move.

01:26And I think Pete Carroll can do that.

01:27Can he make the playoffs in two years?

01:28Maybe.

01:29I think that's probably what you want.

01:31So do you like the Brady involvement and the Spytek hire from the business end of it?

01:41So I'll put it this way.

01:42I think Spytek is a much better hire than Carroll is.

01:45I think Spytek is going to change the thing around here.

01:47I think he's going to change the culture.

01:48I think he's going to change the roster.

01:49I think he's really, really good at what he does.

01:51I'm more excited for the Raiders about the Spytek hire, and that's all Brady.

01:54I mean, college teammate of Brady, guy that he worked with in Tampa.

01:57Brady got him in here.

01:58And let's not forget, Brady did give him an interview with Ben Johnson.

02:00I don't think Ben Johnson was ever taking the job.

02:03But Brady got them that interview.

02:04He got them in the door.

02:05And I think that's what he's going to do for them.

02:06He's not going to be here day-to-day.

02:07I don't think he's moving to Vegas any time soon.

02:08He's going to live in Florida, be with his family, call games.

02:09But he is going to be part of the big picture.

02:10And I think he was a huge part of this hire.

02:11He was a huge part of both these hires.

02:12And I think what he does is, he changes the impression of what the Raiders are.

02:22I don't think Mark Davis opens as many doors as Tom Brady does.

02:25And I think that's clear in this interview process.

02:27I think you're brilliant.

02:29And that's exactly how I saw all of it.

02:32I have a problem.

02:33I'm going to come out with it now.

02:34I have a problem with 20, you know, 24 to 28-year-olds listening to some 74-year-old

02:40Grandpa Jones.

02:41Like, they don't listen to guys that are 50, let alone some guy that's 74 years old.

02:47I don't care who he is.

02:49I don't listen to my grandma and grandpa.

02:50They're dead.

02:51I don't listen to my dad when I was 23.

02:54I don't get it.

02:56They act like he's great with players.

03:00There's no 25-year-old kid listening to some 75-year-old guy do anything, let alone cut

03:06his hair at the barbershop.

03:07I don't buy it.
