00:00Hello everyone it's Domsker from the Shields Gazette just with a little transfer update for

00:05you today. Obviously it's been a bit of a slow transfer window it's what we were expecting in

00:10many ways with the focus being on outgoings rather than incomings this month and still

00:16expect that to be the case as we head into well now we are into the final week of the transfer

00:22window. Miguel Almiron's transfer around £10 million to Atlanta United set to be complete

00:28this week. Sources at Atlanta have said deal not finalised yet but they're expecting Miguel Almiron

00:34to arrive at some point this week to finalise the deal. I think he will be signing until 2029,

00:41complete his medical and will return to his former club where he joined from Newcastle United

00:47in 2019. He's since gone on to make 223 appearances for the club scoring 30 goals. It's been a

00:54a good investment from Newcastle United regardless of what you want to say.

00:59Miguel Almiron played a key role in that fourth place season with that month in October just being

01:07sort of redefined what a purple patch is. It was brilliant and then he's had little sort of

01:13sprinklings of real quality and great moments either side of that. I'd go back to his opening

01:20goal against Crystal Palace, his goal of the season against Crystal Palace the season before

01:25Newcastle came forward and just last season that Champions League goal against PSG, Newcastle's

01:29first Champions League goal in over 20 years. So I think history will reflect very kindly on Miguel

01:36Almiron even though say what you want about his quality and his place in the side. Newcastle

01:40getting £10 million for a 30-year-old who started one Premier League game this season. So I think

01:45he's a player who will leave with a fond farewell and a player who ultimately we've got many happy

01:52memories of and it's the right time for him to go. It probably was the right time for him to go

01:58this time last year as well. So it's a player who will help Newcastle in terms of recouping some

02:03money while he still has some value but then another player who will be out of the door this

02:09month or before the end of the transfer window which is on February the 3rd is Jamie Miley,

02:16a bit of an interesting one. If you're following this story on the Shields Gazette you may be

02:21well up to date with it because Jamie Miley hasn't played for Newcastle in a competitive game

02:28but travelled with the squad, the first-team squad to Japan in pre-season, played a couple games,

02:34played against Girona in the Sala Cup at St James' Park, got a glowing endorsement from Eddie

02:40Howe. I think I gave him an 8 out of 10 in my Shields Gazette player ratings as well. He put in

02:44a really impressive midfield display before joining Newport County on loan. It was initially meant to

02:50be a full-season loan but injuries, he had a hernia problem, he only actually started three

02:56League Two games during his half-season at Newport before he was recalled early by Newcastle earlier

03:03this month. The reason he was recalled early is to get him out not on loan again but to get him

03:09out permanently. I spoke to Newcastle Under-21s manager Dermot O'Carroll last week and he said

03:16it's important for Jamie Miley to find a new permanent home where he can play regularly

03:20and enjoy his football because at Newcastle he could play for the Under-21s, see out his contract

03:26which expires at the end of the season but then once he got the show for it or he could go out

03:30on loan again, not necessarily knowing what the future holds but know, understand he will be

03:36joining Hartlepool United on a permanent deal. Hartlepool in the National League, obviously

03:41historically a football league club, a big club to be in the National League but that's sitting

03:47about mid-table, they've got an outside chance of promotion but it's a level for him, Jamie Miley,

03:54where you think he'll be able to really establish himself and stamp his authority on games because

03:59ultimately although he's impressed at first team level in friendly games for Newcastle and

04:04certainly at Under-21s level, he hasn't exactly got that wealth of experience in senior football

04:11for a 21-year-old. You look at someone like, I don't know, for example, Atino Livermen or Lewis

04:17Hall who are similar age to Jamie Miley yet have played regularly in the Premier League so you're

04:25looking at Jamie Miley who started three senior games, competitive games in the league, you're

04:33looking and saying he just needs to get out, get playing and Hartlepool United in a lot of ways,

04:38he's not having to move particularly far and can get his head down and really sort of build his

04:45career up from there. So I think it's a good move for Jamie Miley, it's a level he should be able to

04:52really establish himself at quickly and just get used to playing football and enjoying football

04:58again because he's had various injury issues over the past couple of seasons but always a good

05:04character in and around the Under-21s squad, the few times I've spoken to him always very good to

05:10speak to as well and I wish him all the best in Hartlepool which that deal, I mean by the time

05:17you watch this video it may well have already been announced but understand on Tuesday the time of

05:26recording this video it's still yet to be announced but that's a transfer we expect to go through and

05:32follows a few exits already this month, okay we've got Miguel Almaron upcoming,

05:37Jamie Miley will be a permanent exit, we've had a few loan exits as well, obviously Isaac Hayden

05:42who has no real future in terms of the first team at Newcastle has joined Portsmouth on loan,

05:48we've had Alex Murphy join Bolton Wanderers, Charlie MacArthur join Carlisle United and

05:56Travis Hearns go out on loan to Denmark, I won't try and butcher the club he's joined, AAB the

06:04initialisation of that club in the Danish top flight. So yeah in terms of what's to come between

06:11now and the end of the transfer window in less than a week's time I'd say more exits are likely,

06:16we may see a few more under-21s exits happen possibly if there is interest in that but in

06:25terms of names you just need to look at under-21 squad some of the older players in that squad,

06:30there was the likes of Ben Parkinson, Jay Turner-Cook and Cathal Heffernan who the club would

06:35have really liked to get out potentially this month but you're looking at Jay Turner-Cook and

06:42Ben Parkinson both picked up injuries, Cathal Heffernan it's a depleted under-21 squad, he's the

06:48captain of the squad so whether Newcastle decide to actually keep him involved and try and just

06:55play regular football between now and the end of the season remains to be seen and then in terms

06:59of the first team outgoings obviously Lloyd Kelly has been linked with a move away this month,

07:06Juventus and Fenerbahce have since signed alternative players and Newcastle have always,

07:12well I say that the bids that have come in they've sort of whacked away quite significantly

07:19really and comprehensively so their stance is clear, Lloyd Kelly unless serious money comes

07:25in for him I expect to be a Newcastle player by the end of the transfer window and another player

07:32bit of interest in obviously Martin De Bravka that's been settled expect him to remain at the

07:38club see out his contract and then we'll go from there in terms of whether he gets a new deal or

07:43whether he's released I think I understand the player's preference would be to see out the season

07:49Newcastle hopefully keep his place as number one and then join the new club in the summer with his

07:56head held high because he's had a great spell so far in the side this season in Nick Pope's absence

08:02and then sticking with the goalkeeper as we've seen Odysseus Vlachadimos, Martin De Bravka was

08:08subject to that transfer interest from Al-Shabaab in Saudi Arabia blocked by Newcastle, Newcastle

08:15probably more receptive to Al-Shabaab's approach for Vlachadimos who hasn't started a game since

08:21he joined from Nottingham Forest in the summer but Vlachadimos ultimately turned down that option to

08:28go to the Saudi Pro League his preference will be to stay in Europe and understand speaking previously

08:33his intention at Newcastle when he signed was to fight for a starting spot in the side but that

08:39hasn't transpired he's came on once in the Cowboy Cup when Martin De Bravka got injured

08:45and now Nick Pope is back again third choice goalkeeper would be lucky to make the bench

08:52between now and the end of the season unless there's an injury and only in an absolute emergency

08:56will he be playing games unless it is maybe an FA Cup game or a friendly of some sorts between

09:04now and the end of the season so Newcastle would be open to letting Odysseus Vlachadimos leave

09:11between now and the end of the transfer window Eddie Howe basically said it's such he said

09:16other than the core players in terms of the first team that may only may let the sort of fringe

09:24players go if offers came in as I understand no offers have come in so far other than that

09:29Al-Shabaab deal but if another one came in for Vlachadimos between now and 11pm on Monday the

09:373rd of February which is the deadline then Newcastle would consider it and whether that

09:44transpires into a transfer we'll just have to wait and see but yeah that's a player who could leave

09:49again looking at the squad if you see any players who are on the fringes not really getting

09:54first team football Matt Target being another one he's been linked with Leeds United

09:59players like that they could potentially go but the stress and the message from the club is very

10:04much outgoing to the focus ideally Eddie Howe will want to keep the core of his team starting 11 and

10:11the main subs that we've been seeing frequently together this month we may see some fringe

10:16players leave we may see some under-21s players leave and obviously in the coming days we'll see
