00:00From the Banco Central ng Pilipinas or BSP reported a 49.7% rise in loans and advances

00:07totaling 124.7 billion pesos, the highest since 2021. These loans are extended to banks

00:14and non-banks facing liquidity issues. In December 2024, the BSP replaced its re-discounting

00:20facility with a discount window facility or DWF, allowing banks to secure advances using

00:26government securities. During the pandemic, BSP loans to the government increased significantly

00:32to support cash flow amidst revenue shortfalls.
