00:00A senior citizen was killed by a trap because of a blazing fire in Quezon City.
00:06Another person was injured because of a bullet wound to the skin.
00:09Mark Salazar has the story.
00:15It was past 9 in the morning when there was a spark in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City,
00:20which led to a fire that hit not less than 15 houses.
00:25There was also a fire in the adjacent Pook Taguhoy, which is part of Barangay UP Campus, inside UP Diliman.
00:31It started in Barangay Old Balara.
00:34It was just a simple fire.
00:35Then later, suddenly, the fire started.
00:39There were two houses that were part of Barangay UP Campus.
00:42Those two were involved.
00:43Our fire out was fast.
00:46We had a lot of fire trucks, a lot of supplies.
00:49It just so happened that our fire trucks were stuck in traffic.
00:53But we didn't have a hard time.
00:56In the midst of the fire, I talked to a man who was looking for his mother.
01:03When I got here, my niece was inside.
01:06She said,
01:07Mom came back.
01:09When I went inside, the fire was already strong.
01:12I couldn't do anything.
01:14How old is your wife?
01:15She's 69 years old.
01:16She went outside.
01:17She saw a lot of things.
01:18She said she came back because she was going to get something.
01:21After more than two hours,
01:23the Bureau of Fire Protection confirmed that his mother was trapped and burned alive in the fire.
01:30A man also suffered a second-degree burn because of the fire.
01:34The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire,
01:38which reached the second alarm before it turned red,
01:41before 11 a.m.
