00:00Haste makes waste, and has led to a huge loss in time and resources for not-so-well-thought-out
00:05decisions to summarily bar candidates seeking to run for office in May for all the wrong
00:10reasons.
00:11Our Luisa Erizpe tells us more on the latest SE injunction on the Pobody's ballot printing
00:18that should be revised with the candidates they crossed out.
00:23The scheduled reprinting of the 2025 national and local ballots tomorrow will be delayed
00:28for another two to three days.
00:30This, after the Supreme Court issued another temporary restraining order, ordering the
00:35Comelec to include two additional names of candidates.
00:39One of them is Senatorial candidate Francis Leo Marcos, who was declared a nuisance candidate
00:44by the Comelec last November.
00:46And another is Noel Rosal, running as governor for Albay, but was eventually disqualified
00:52by the Comelec.
00:53Well, the court does consider the printing of the ballots, of course, but then it did
00:58remind the Comelec, in the case of Marquez, the case decided earlier that the Comelec
01:05should also be aware that in disqualifying candidates, there is a big chance that these
01:11candidates are going to be bringing the issue before the Supreme Court, and that the Supreme
01:16Court would need time to actually resolve their cases.
01:20It's really up to the Comelec how they will implement the orders.
01:24Now, we are not yet printing the ballots, and therefore, if there will be a change again,
01:29then we will comply definitely.
01:31Wholeheartedly, we will comply with the directive of the Supreme Court.
01:35The Comelec said, though this is another delay in their preparations, it will be easier for
01:40them to include the names of Marcos and Rosal in their database, because they have fixed
01:45the system allowing for this feature.
01:47The Comelec's target is to reprint the ballots on Friday.
02:01The Comelec also assured the date of the election won't be delayed.
02:04As of now, the Supreme Court still has 13 pending petitions for senatorial and local
02:21candidates, and there are also 22 for party-list groups which are in the priority agenda of
02:27the High Court.
