DING also zoned in on quantum computing, but as Georges-Olivier Raymond from Pascal, which is a
00:06
quantum computing company, said it's going to be some time before all of that plays out.
00:13
The question of timelines is a very good one, and there are different timelines.
00:17
Some people talk about 10 to 15 years, as we take from NVIDIA CEOs a couple days ago,
00:25
and there are earlier solutions that we are developing at Pascal.
00:29
And we are convinced that we will see the first impact on the business in two to three years,
00:34
starting competing against classical technologies and bringing value to end users,
00:39
because we have a different technology, a different way of using that.
00:43
And it will impact all the sectors, starting maybe with the energy sector. We have a lot of
00:49
cases, you know, optimizing the electrical grid, thinking of charging electrical vehicles,
00:55
new materials for batteries, things like that, and in the financial sector as well.
01:01
And also drug discovery. I mean, we developed a very great proof of concept with a French partner
01:08
named Qubit Pharmaceutical, and we developed a new tool to predict the reactivity of talking
01:12
sites of protein. You mentioned energy and, you know,
01:16
safeguarding the planet, encouraging progress on nature, on climate goals through innovation,
01:21
and it's also very much a focus here at Davos. It's no surprise since, you know, last year was
01:26
the hottest on record, and we've had these extreme weather events that have been causing
01:31
devastation around the world. Can quantum computing help that?
01:35
Yes, absolutely. And quantum computers are also part of the solution.
01:39
First of all, because they can help developing new solutions. As an example, with BISF,
01:44
we work on predicting weather pattern, okay? We can work also on, I mentioned the energy sector,
01:52
grid electricity. We can help them reducing, optimizing the distribution of electricity
01:58
and reducing the loss. So first impact that quantum computers can directly have on the
02:03
government footprint. And I mean, the cherry of the cake, if you will do, is that quantum
02:09
computers are also part of the solutions, because they are also very low energy intensive.
02:15
It takes only a couple of kilowatts to operate our quantum computers,
02:20
compared to megawatts with classical watts.
