00:00Good morning, this is the PTV Balita Ngayon.

00:07President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. supported the declaration of the Food Security Emergency to address the high price of rice.

00:15According to President Marcos, the government did everything to lower the price of rice but the price of rice is still high in the markets.

00:24The Department of Agriculture is just waiting to receive the resolution of the National Price Coordinating Council

00:30that calls for the implementation of the Food Security Emergency.

00:34At the time that the country is already under the Food Security Emergency,

00:38the National Food Authority will allow the sale of non-regular or old stock of rice to local governments

00:45that can be used as aid or sold to the public even if there is no storm or flood.

00:49There are 300,000 to 700,000 rice bags that can be exported by the National Food Authority

00:54that are said to help lower the price of rice from P3 to P5 per kilo.

01:02According to the official news, the Department of Agriculture will start on Monday, January 20,

01:06the implementation of the Maximum Suggested Retail Price or MSRP.

01:11The price of each kilo of imported rice is P58 with a 5% discount.

01:17The goal of this initiative is to lower the price of rice and maybe it can be reached for those who choose.

01:23According to the DA and the Department of Trade and Industry,

01:26businesses that can prove to be affected by the price of rice can be fined or jailed.
