00:00Get to know me as we get ready together.
00:02My name is Jeanette. I've been making TikTok videos since 2019.
00:06I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
00:09I'm a full-time content creator. I have been for the last four years.
00:14I use TikTok to connect with my community,
00:18perform my business deals and brand deals and advertise.
00:22You guys, this is the CEO of TikTok!
00:26I am Joe!
00:27First off, I want to say that I'm thankful.
00:29I'm thankful for what TikTok has allowed me to do.
00:33Last year, I flew to Paris multiple times for the Olympics.
00:37With L'Oreal, TikTok has been able to give me opportunities
00:41that I never believed that I could experience in my lifetime.
00:46I am so disappointed to see the rulings go this way.
00:54As an American, I can't help but to question
00:58certain systems. I can't help but to question my faith
01:03and what I believe in the American system.
01:06I can't help but question those things.
01:14I'm confused. I'm disappointed.
01:18It's a beautiful app. It's brought so many people together.
01:20It's changed a lot of people's lives.
01:22And for it to just be taken away like that, it feels so not American.
01:31Breaking news from the Supreme Court.
01:32This morning, it is January 17th, Friday, 2025.
01:36And late last night, the Supreme Court updated their calendar
01:40to add an opinion to the docket this morning
01:42after earlier this week saying they would only have conferences.
01:45Yeah, I am a long-form educational content creator
01:49that educates the public about how they can better engage
01:52with their elected officials in Congress, in the House of Representatives,
01:56the presidency, and the regulatory agencies at the federal and state level.
02:00I also create long-form content that educates the public on the dangers
02:05that private equity poses in health care
02:08or corporate capture of our government might pose to the will of the people.
02:12Earlier this evening, President Trump made a move to save TikTok
02:15that has shocked apparently everyone in the world except me.
02:18When he had his attorneys file a brief in amicus,
02:21that is a friend of the court calling on the Supreme Court to help him save TikTok.
02:26Right now, I'm incredibly disappointed,
02:27not necessarily in our Supreme Court for doing their job,
02:30but truly in the elected officials that chose to fast-track a bill
02:35that was lobbied for by billionaires and special interest groups,
02:39not even pausing to hear the will of the American people.
02:41It's been heartbreaking to watch
02:44because they didn't ask small businesses what was going to happen to them,
02:47and they didn't make a plan for these families,
02:49these millions of Americans that are going to lose their livelihoods,
02:52for the hundreds of thousands of employees that are going to be laid off or let go.
02:55I believe that our elected officials failed the American people
02:58in failing to learn what TikTok actually meant to the American population.
03:02I think they're learning that now the hard way.
03:05They thought that it was an app where people spread cat videos and dances and goofed off.
03:10They equated it with Tide Pods and ridiculousness.
03:13In reality, it's an ecosystem that has created a huge portion of the American economy.
03:18It's created a place where 7 million small businesses thrive
03:21in ways that they're not able to thrive in any other economic
03:24social media system in the United States.
03:40you
