00:00Hey, it's People in 10.
00:05We're still bummed that Beyonce postponed her big announcement slated for this week,
00:10but instead she made a massive $2.5 million donation to relief efforts in LA after devastating
00:17wildfires burned and continue to burn in the area.
00:20Bey released a statement on IG saying she wants to prioritize recovery, but the question
00:25still remains.
00:26Is it a tour?
00:27Another album?
00:28Anything Superbowl related?
00:30We'll have to wait and see.
00:32Just like we'll have to wait for Meghan Markle's Netflix special.
00:35That was supposed to premiere Wednesday, but it was pushed to March for the same reason.
00:38Even the big record labels are canceling their Grammy-related events out of respect and redirecting
00:44funds to the city during this tough time.
00:48There have been so many people and families displaced by the fires, including Mandy Moore's.
00:53Obviously, as celebrities, they have an advantage, unlike so many others who don't have the
00:58funds to rebuild.
00:59But she and her family still lost everything in the Eaton fire and are needing support.
01:03Enter BFF Hilary Duff, who stepped up with her husband Matthew Koma to open their home
01:08for Mandy, her husband Taylor Goldsmith, and their three kids.
01:12But that's not all.
01:13Mandy's brother-in-law, you know, from that now infamous GoFundMe she shared and got a
01:17little backlash for, well, he revealed they've also taken care of his family from the start.
01:23That's true friendship.
01:25Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are picking up the pieces, too, after they and their two
01:29boys lost their home in the Palisades blaze.
01:32And y'all, they've been keeping it so real on social media, explaining their next steps,
01:37their grief, even how they're trying to rebuild.
01:40And that includes their wardrobe.
01:41It sounds silly, but it's really making me miss my stuff.
01:46I'm like, I have something just like that.
01:49People in our partners Entertainment Weekly and InStyle are supporting the Los Angeles
01:52Regional Food Bank, which is helping to feed residents displaced by the fires.
01:56And hey, you can help, too, with donations, raising awareness, and volunteering for causes
02:02that resonate with you.
02:05In other news this week, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are finito after 10 years of
02:10marriage.
02:11They called it a painful situation, but co-parenting their three kids will, of course, come first.
02:16Rumors had been swirling for months.
02:18I mean, Eric not wearing his ring?
02:21Fans definitely noticed.
02:22Now, insiders say it was their busy schedules and growing apart that did them in.
02:25And with Jessica's Hidden Hills mansion recently hitting the market for sale, it's time for
02:30a fresh start.
02:33In happier news, team Mahomes is officially a little bigger.
02:36Brittany and Patrick welcomed baby number three on Sunday, appropriately football day.
02:41But with the Chiefs bye week, dad didn't miss a thing.
02:44First they had Sterling, then Bronze came along, and now Golden Ray makes three precious
02:49medals.
02:50He fit right in her mama and papa's hands.
02:53So adorable.
02:54Even Taylor liked it.
02:56Carrie Underwood is under a little controversy by agreeing to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration.
03:01Fans are pretty divided, with some praising her as brave, while others say it's a risky
03:06move for her career.
03:07As for Carrie herself, she says it's about unity, not politics.
03:11In her words, we must all come together.
03:14And this isn't her first big political moment.
03:16She and fellow country star Brad Paisley actually mocked Trump during the Country Music
03:21Awards in 2017.
03:22Maybe next time they'll think before they tweet.
03:30But I guess a lot can happen in eight years.
03:33And Michelle Obama is going to be a no-show for Trump's big day.
03:36We know Barack will be there on the 20th, but a spokesperson for the couple confirmed
03:41that the former first lady won't be joining him.
03:43Swearing-in ceremonies are traditionally attended by former presidents and their families, but
03:48Trump himself bucked the trend when he skipped Joe Biden.
03:51Now, this comes on the heels of Michelle also missing Jimmy Carter's state funeral.
03:56That absence was said to be a scheduling conflict.
03:58She was apparently still in Hawaii on an extended vacation.
04:02There's a new number one bestseller on Amazon this week, and it's a self-help book from
04:072020?
04:08Well, it's all thanks to AJ Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver who went viral for reading
04:13on the sidelines during his team's playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.
04:17I thought he was just bored at first, but he says he brings this book to every game
04:22and uses it to refocus between each drive.
04:25And hey, this seems to be working.
04:27The Eagles won that game and will take on the LA Rams this Sunday, just two wins away
04:32from heading to the Super Bowl.
04:33Now, I want to read it.
04:36Princess Kate is full of surprises.
04:38This time, it was a rare appearance at the same hospital in London where she underwent
04:42cancer treatment for nine months last year.
04:44She met with patients on their own cancer journey and thanked the staff for walking
04:48alongside her during hers.
04:51She's now in remission, which is such good news.
04:53And she talked about the importance of self-care amid treatment.
04:56For her, that looked like loads of water and loads of sunlight, as well as doing the things
05:01that give you joy.
05:04Now it's a sit down with Alana Glazer.
05:06Hi, Alana.
05:07Your standup special Human Magic is streaming now on Hulu.
05:11I won't bury the lead here.
05:12It's hilarious.
05:14When she laid on my chest, I said those three magic words.
05:18Holy f***.
05:19Walk us through this process and how this special perfectly captures this moment in
05:26your life.
05:27The process for me for making my latest standup special, Human Magic, was the most fun I've
05:33ever had doing standup.
05:35I was able to create my tour organized around my family.
05:43You know, standup typically happens on the weekends.
05:45And like, that's the time that I reconnect with my family.
05:47So my husband and I were talking about it.
05:49And I was like, you don't understand.
05:51It has to be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
05:54He was like, what if it's Thursdays and Fridays?
05:56And I was like, you're a genius.
05:58You're a genius.
05:59That's how I plan the tour.
06:00I performed in 48 cities, 52 shows and took my time doing it.
06:07And it made the standup, I think the funniest standup I've ever done.
06:11And I had the most fun I ever had.
06:14I really wanted to be there every single show that I did.
06:18Your daughter is three now and you joke about how opinionated she is.
06:22What are her current most stubborn opinions?
06:25She's still telling me to take my hair down because her hair is curly and she likes when
06:28our hair matches.
06:29And she literally says to me, Mako, it'll be up.
06:32She says, take it down, take it down.
06:34And then she goes, zhuzh it.
06:37I'm like, you're telling me to zhuzh my hair?
06:39Like I've been zhuzhing my hair since before you were born, dude.
06:44She's making jokes.
06:46She's dancing.
06:47She's very creative.
06:48Her spirit is very alive.
06:50Since it's still early in the new year, are you a resolution person?
06:54Mantras, manifestations?
06:55What does 2025 hold for Alana Glazer?
06:59Creating more.
07:02I'm a really generative person.
07:04I'm productive, but I want to be writing more, speaking more.
07:10I want to be surfing.
07:11I want to be surfing through this year and not looking to the side, not paying attention
07:17to nonsense or people who are specifically trying to bring me down, you down, all of
07:21us down.
07:22They can do that.
07:24And if I'm not looking at them and I'm just focusing on the wave that I'm riding, go do
07:30your nonsense.
07:32I don't care.
07:33And then they kind of blow themselves up.
07:35I really, I'm very politically active and politically minded, but right now I'm focusing
07:42on the personal, on my personal, pleasurable experience.
07:48And yeah, that focus I think will let us see each other who's doing that and connect.
07:54And then leave the nonsense to the margins.
07:58Let's do a little rapid fire Q and A game.
08:00Most overrated parental advice you were ever given?
08:03It goes so fast.
08:06I'm like, does it?
08:08Most underrated lines or scene from Broad City?
08:11In the 509, in the second to last episode ever, Abby and Alana are on drugs, realizing
08:19that they're codependent and they're like, we're a little Cody's.
08:24We're a little Cody's.
08:25We, you, me, we're a little Cody's, dude.
08:29And it never like picked up as its own thing.
08:31And I think it should, because I'm so codependent with so many people, I could use that line
08:35myself.
08:36Tell us something about Alana Glazer that no one knows.
08:39No one knows that, um, I really enjoy silence.
08:49And finally, this is the most important one.
08:51In da club, are we all fam?
08:53But in da club, we all fam.
08:56What?
08:57In da club, we all fam.
08:59We are 100%, no doubt, absolutely all fam in da club.
09:05Four and three and two and one.
09:08Okay, I'm going to put 10 seconds on the clock, promote any one of your projects.
09:12Ready?
09:13Go.
09:14Watch Human Magic, Broad City, Babes on Hulu, and you got to see Yamanika Sounders' new
09:20special on her YouTube page.
09:21That's it.
09:22Yama.
09:23Alana, thank you so much for joining us.
09:25I am thrilled.
09:27This is like really, I'm feeling you and I'm so grateful.
