00:00Now, President Joseph Aoun has chosen, as we've been saying, Nawaf Salam, to fill this

00:06role, some saying that is a blow to Hezbollah.

00:11But I'm wondering why they're saying that, because, of course, the prime minister of

00:13Lebanon is always going to be a Sunni.

00:16Why are they saying it's a blow to Hezbollah?

00:19It's a posture, right?

00:21There's no doubt that this new leadership, be it the president or the prime minister,

00:28they're heralding in a new era for Lebanon, a new repositioning for Lebanon in the region.

00:35This is a glimpse of what political life might look like outside of the so-called axis of

00:42resistance.

00:43You can feel that people are hopeful.

00:46You can feel happiness and you can feel relief on the streets.

00:51It's not a blow, in a sense, to Hezbollah, but yes, it signals a repositioning.

00:58This is not the prime minister that they would have wanted.

01:01This is not the president that they would have wanted.

01:05But for the constituency of Hezbollah and for the Amal movement, I think these are the

01:11right people in the right places, because these will be the people who will be able

01:15to lead on the reconstruction effort in the upcoming phase, to make sure that people will

01:21go back to their homes the fastest possible.

01:24And these are the people who will make sure to uphold the ceasefire agreement.
