The second day of Jallikattu drew large crowds, with bulls and tamers performing thrilling feats, all under strict safety protocols and medical checks.

00:00Day 2 of the bull taming festival of Jallikattu was held on Wednesday morning in different

00:15parts of Tamil Nadu as the people of the state immersed themselves in Pongal festivities.

00:22In Palamedu in Madurai district, around 1,100 bulls and 900 bull tamers participated in

00:29the competition.

00:33As the bulls, smeared with sandal paste, leaped out of the wadi vasal or the entrance to the

00:39sporting arena, teams of enthusiastic young bull tamers tried their best to get a hold

00:45of the bull's hump to control it.

00:47The antics of the bulls and the tamers enthralled audiences as they watched the action first

01:23Pre-registered bulls undergo strict medical checks to ascertain their physical fitness.

01:35The bulls must be at least four feet tall, have four teeth, their horns must not be sharp

01:41and there should be no injuries on their bodies.

01:44Only those bulls that pass the tests are released into the arena.

01:50The teams are on standby for the bull tamers too.

01:53In Palamedu, a group of US citizens enjoyed watching the sport, saying it was one of the

01:59craziest, most unique thing they have ever seen.

02:13I think that I'm glad they've done a lot of the changes that they have to the game so

02:19that it's fair to everyone and it's not cruel to the animals.

02:23And it's so fun to watch the very fit young men and their hard work and have them work

02:29out with the bulls.
