Relevant ministries, agencies told to be prepared for expected monsoon surge, says Fahmi

Relevant government ministries and agencies have been directed to make the highest preparations following predictions of heavy rainfall expected to hit the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, says Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.  Speaking at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing on Wednesday (Jan 15), Fahmi, who also serves as the government spokesman, explained that the Cabinet was reminded about the monsoon warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia), which is expected to persist until Jan 19 in those areas. 00:06This morning, the Prime Minister has reminded us about the monsoon warning issued by the

00:14Meteorology Department, and this will be in force until 19th of January, and three locations

00:23that have been warned by the Meteorology Department, including South Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah.

00:31So, a warning to the people in the state of Johor, especially around Mersing and Pengerang,

00:43to be careful.

00:44Also, the people in Sarawak and Sabah, to always be prepared for the possibility of flooding due to the monsoon.

00:55Regarding the monsoon, is there any preparation that will be carried out?

00:59In terms of preparation, NADMA is always ready to face it, and for the agencies such as JKM,

01:13APMM, and MCMC for telecommunications, we have asked them to be at a high level of preparation.
