00:00Growth is the number one mission of this Labour government, and to grow the economy we need
00:05to help great British businesses export around the world, that includes to China. As the
00:11second biggest economy in the world, and our fourth largest trading partner, not engaging
00:17is simply not an option. That is why I led a delegation, including the Governor of the
00:23Bank of England, the Chief Executive of the Financial Conduct Authority, and representatives
00:28of some of Britain's largest financial services firms, including HSBC, Standard Charter and
00:35Schroders at the 2025 UK-China Economic and Financial Dialogue, the first of its kind
00:42since 2019. The Conservative Party's economic strategy is to say that the UK should not
00:48engage with the second largest economy in the world, or indeed with our nearest neighbours
00:55and our biggest trading partners in the European Union. His economic strategy is to support
01:01higher spending, but none of the right decisions that are required to deliver sound public
01:07finances. And his economic strategy is to ignore the mistakes of the past, with no apology
01:15to the British people for his part in Liz Truss's mini-budget that crashed the economy.
