00:00This Labour government has been elected on a mandate to get things done, to get Britain
00:06building again. We will make those tough decisions to realise that mandate.
00:13With these steps, we have done more to unblock the planning system in the past 72 hours than
00:20the last government did in 14 years.
00:23Be in no doubt, we are going to get Britain building again. We are going to get Britain's
00:29economy growing again. And there is no time to waste.
00:34I know that voters' trust cannot be repaid through slogans or through gimmicks. Only
00:41through action. Only through delivery. The Treasury I lead is proceeding on that basis.
00:50I was appointed to this post less than 72 hours ago. Upon my arrival, I told Treasury
00:56staff that the work starts straight away. That work has begun.
01:02I have commissioned and received economic analysis from Treasury officials on the lost
01:06growth of the last 14 years, which I have set out today. I have instructed Treasury
01:12officials to prepare an assessment of the state of our spending inheritance to be presented
01:16to Parliament before the summer recess.
01:19I have started work with the Prime Minister to make the necessary preparations for the
01:24establishment of a growth mission board. And that board will meet before the end of
01:29this month, focused squarely on reviving our country's economic growth and prosperity.
01:35I have established a new growth delivery unit here at the heart of the Treasury. There is
01:41much more to do. More tough decisions to be taken. You have put your trust in us. And
01:49we will repay that trust.
01:52The work towards a decade of national renewal has begun. There is no time to waste and we
01:58are just getting started. Thank you very much.
