What options do Newcastle United have for the future of St. James’ Park?

00:00The future of St James' Park has been one of the key debates in Newcastle United circles in recent times.

00:07The 52,000-seater stadium has been Newcastle United's home since 1892,

00:13but now there is talk of potentially moving to a new stadium that could accommodate a larger capacity.

00:20The other option, of course, is staying put and extending St James' Park,

00:25but that is fraught with difficulties because of buildings that surround the current ground.

00:31However, there is a common acceptance that extending the Galligant end of the ground is possible,

00:37which would see the capacity go to between 60,000 and 65,000, on par with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal.

00:45On top of that, the current ground holds sentimental value for many supporters.

00:49However, a new stadium could bring in far more matchday revenue.

00:53It is a very complicated matter, with a decision expected in the next couple of months.
