00:00Are The Weeknd and A$AP Fer calling it quits?
00:08During a recent interview with Variety, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye,
00:13says that he's considering retiring The Weeknd moniker after his latest album, Free of Tomorrow.
00:19In the article, the Dancing in the Flame singer states,
00:21It's a headspace I've gotta get into that I just don't have any more desire for.
00:26You have a persona, but then you have the competition of it all.
00:29It becomes this rat race, more accolades, more success, more shows, more albums, more awards.
00:34And more number ones. It never ends until you end it.
00:38The Weeknd assures fans that while his next chapter may see the end of The Weeknd,
00:42it doesn't mean that he will stop making music. He said,
00:45I don't think I can stop doing that. But everything needs to feel like a challenge
00:49and for me right now, The Weeknd, whatever that is, it's been mastered. No one's gonna do The
00:54Weeknd better than me. And I'm not gonna do it better than what it is right now.
00:57I think I've overcome every challenge as this persona.
01:01While speaking to journalist Toure on his Toure show,
01:03A$AP Ferg announced that he has removed A$AP from his name.
01:07I feel like if we're not making no music and putting out no new time stamps, then
01:13there's no A$AP. So right now it's Ferg.
01:16Though Ferg states that A$AP Mob is no more, he notes that everyone is still on good terms.
01:22I still talk to those guys. I still talk to Rocky. I talk to 12V sometimes. I speak to
01:30Nas. We bumping into each other in LA and parties and stuff like that. But we all got
01:36different pockets and groups of friends. You know what I'm saying? We're not like
01:4120 years old sharing a bus and traveling for months at a time anymore.
01:52You
