00:00A new diplomatic protest was held in the Philippines against the illegal retention of Chinese ships in our Exclusive Economic Zone.
00:09The Philippine Coast Guard will continue to monitor the monster ship that entered the country's territory.
00:16Patrick V. Jesus, for details.
00:21Even the monster ship of the China Coast Guard is not safe from the high waves in the West Philippine Sea
00:28that reaches 3 to 5 meters.
00:31On Monday, the monster ship, 66 nautical miles from Pundakit, Zambales, was last seen
00:38after it returned to the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines last Saturday.
00:43It was not released for several days and the BRP stopped the ship from sailing near the Philippines.
00:50But it returned to the home port, the so-called largest ship of the Philippine Coast Guard,
00:55to repair its damaged auxiliary engine.
00:58Another PCG ship, the BRP Gabriela Silang, will replace it.
01:03It has a large 83 meters to continue to monitor.
01:08It's worth noting that despite of the discrepancy of the size of the monster ship,
01:13whether it's a 44 meter vessel or an 83 or 97 meter vessel,
01:18the Philippine Coast Guard remains to be committed in deploying our vessels and making sure
01:23that we can be able to effectively and vigilantly monitor
01:27the presence of the China Coast Guard vessel within our own Exclusive Economic Zone.
01:53They want to normalize the deployment of the China Coast Guard here in this area.
02:18If they alter my status, that will already be operationalized.
02:24It will be easier for them to say that for the past so many days, and then months, and then years,
02:30we've been deploying Chinese maritime forces here for a long time.
02:34And that is the reason why it is important for the Philippine Coast Guard vessel
02:40to challenge the China Coast Guard vessels on a day-to-day basis.
02:45Araw-araw, oras-oras. It's important for us to do that.
02:59Sinasabi ng China siguro na this is the way for them to counter etong newly enacted domestic law
03:07natin. Secondly, kumaalala natin last November or early December, the Chinese government also
03:15filed to the United Nations, sinasabi nila na meron silang territorial sea limits as well in
03:22Bajo de Macinlok. Alam naman natin sa kanila na they never really hesitate to violate any domestic
03:28or international law.
