00:38in the 2nd Fisherfolk Congress held on November 28 in Coron, Palawan.
00:43Around 200 fishermen from the cities of Coron, Busuanga, Colon, and Linapakan
00:49participated in the Congress of Fishermen for Peace and Prosperity.
00:54The program has a goal to give the fishermen knowledge to the police
00:59and the government to protect the WPS
01:02against the illegal presence in the territorial waters of the country
01:06and its exclusive economic zone.
01:08This also served as a way for the fishermen
01:12to express their concerns and requests for fishing in municipal and ancestral waters.
01:18Along with this, the launch of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
01:22and the Program on Livelihood Activities to Enhance Fisheries Yields and Economic Gains or LAYAG-WPS
01:28to increase the production and capacity of fishermen in the country.
01:32Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development gave financial assistance
01:38worth P10,000 each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations or AICS Program.
