00:00Hey, I'm Chloe, Afar's Associate Editor.
00:08I'm here with some of the best places to visit in Europe right now, whether you're looking
00:11for gorgeous spots to get away from the crowds, or just some places with a lot of stuff going
00:15on right now.
00:16Let's get into it.
00:24Love arts and culture?
00:25We'll then head on over to Manchester, one of Afar's best places to go in 2024.
00:29The English city landed on the list thanks to a bunch of new developments, including
00:33the opening of cultural spaces like Aviva Studios and Co-op Live, which is the UK's
00:37largest live entertainment area.
00:39Manchester is full of history, too.
00:41Check out Cheatham's Library, the oldest surviving public library in the English-speaking
00:45world.
00:48This tiny country in the southern Mediterranean is a mashup of cultures.
00:52It was ruled by the Phoenicians, Romans, and British, to name a few.
00:55Its capital, Valletta, dates back to the 16th century and is home to more than 300
00:59monuments, including St. John's Co-Cathedral and the Grand Master's Palace.
01:03But there are more things to do and get excited about, too.
01:06The Malta International Contemporary Arts Space, also known as MIGAS, is set to open
01:11by the end of 2024.
01:13Dubrovnik and Split are well-loved by visitors to Croatia, but head to coastal Istria to
01:17experience the lesser-known spot.
01:19The region is full of beautiful coastal towns, and of course, great views of the Mediterranean,
01:24where you might even be able to spot a dolphin or two.
01:27The country introduced its Digital Nomad Visa in 2021, allowing remote workers from several
01:31countries, including the U.S., to apply for year-long visas to live and work there.
01:37Slovenia packs in beauty, from the Alps to the Adriatic coast.
01:41Ljubljana, the country's capital, is a great place to explore all of it.
01:45It's a UNESCO City of Literature, so while you're there, check out all of the festivals
01:48promoting its literary scene.
01:50And if you're looking to get out into nature, head to the northern part of the country.
01:54There, you can walk the 168-mile Ljubljana Trail, a route in Triglav National Park.
02:00Italy is home to more than 400 islands.
02:03Some of them, like Sicily and Capri, are pretty well-known by now, but consider Ischia.
02:08Part of the Campanian Archipelago is an incredible place to visit if you love nature.
02:12Go there and you can spend your downtime in natural thermal springs, or explore new volcanic
02:16landscapes with a hike up Mount Nephimeo.
