Campaigning heats up in Western Australia ahead of state election with focus on regions, sport, and tourism

Campaigning in Western Australia is well and truly underway, with the state election just months away. Both major parties were on the hustings over the weekend, with the regions, sport and tourism set to benefit.

00:00With less than two months to go to convince voters, no photo opportunities are missed.

00:11In Margaret River, the Premier offering more than $33 million to cut regional travel costs

00:16for pensioners and subsidise trips for students wanting to attend country week events.

00:22We're putting hundreds of dollars back into the pockets of regional seniors and regional

00:28families through these two important measures.

00:31And in the Perth Hills, the promise of a $23 million outdoor adventure package.

00:37What it's really targeting is improving the facilities in our national parks in particular

00:43and also along our coastline to support more fishing but also more cycling and walking

00:49and hiking.

00:50The WA Liberal Party today focusing on indoor sports with a commitment to basketball and

00:56volleyball associations.

01:00More than $37 million to build a 12-court multi-sport stadium in Kensington.

01:0610,000 people signing a petition for better local facilities.

01:12Children were being turned away from sport because there were not enough facilities to

01:18be able to support their chosen sports.

01:22And tourism set to win regardless of the March result.
