The apparently simple task of designing sidewalks is typically done by architects or civil engineers on commercial projects. Walks constructed for commercial projects and almost any project but a single family residence are subject to the Americans with Disabilities Act. While the design is relatively easy if cost is not a concern, designs are generally done to tight tolerances in order to save on construction costs. It is also often necessary to design to tight tolerances where your project has existing conditions that are fairly restrictive. This video explains one common way to lay out construction of walks. The same information will enable you to determine the compliance of an existing walk.

Initial consultations at our office are always free for commercial projects. Please come by to meet us and see our other work.
