00:00We must pioneer through leadership, through dialogue.
00:11It is evident that any, for any civilization to thrive, it must harness and harvest ideas
00:18through dialogue, discourse and debate.
00:23Besides its intangible value as intellectual exercise, such engagement strengthens policymaking,
00:31making it more robust, comprehensive and empirically grounded.
00:38It gives more sense the meaning of democratic accountability, that we listen, we engage,
00:46we make the necessary adjustments because we do not claim that the government knows
00:53best, unless we are prepared to listen and make the necessary adjustments, admit our
01:00flaws and make the necessary adjustments.
01:05This is a tradition not stranger to us in the East.
01:11We have the spirit of Mushawarra, of Gotong Royong, and in Islam that we are instructed
01:27to consult among ourselves, but once the decision is made, then proceed with all the strength
01:35and vigour and leave the rest to Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
01:40So there is that consultation, but there is an end.
01:44Once the decision is made, we must have that political resolve and the spirit and the commitment
01:57to implement to the best of our ability.
02:00Continued debate on elementary, unnecessary issues is an important deflection, exciting
02:09to some people, but it does not resolve the issues that we face and will not ensure our
02:21growth and our success.
02:25To ensure that Malaysia remains an important player in the region, we must get our work
02:34in order and work together as a great team of Malaysians from all regions, from all states,
02:42from all communities.
03:34We must be ready to make changes and adjustments, to admit our weaknesses, including in the government,
03:44but to make changes and improvements for all.
