Ryan Reynolds has resurfaced for the first time since getting caught up in all the legal drama involving his wife, Blake Lively, and Justin Baldoni.

00:23He was at the National Board of Review Awards last night in New York City and was introducing

00:39This is 100% about what his wife is going through.

00:43Stories about women seem to be held to a different set of standards, and that is to say that

00:48they're often held to the standards women are held to in life.

00:52You must be perfect.

00:53You must hide your strength.

00:55You must shapeshift or placate.

00:59But Donna Langley and Universal, they know where and with whom to place their trust,

01:06and it paid off in this film.

01:07I hate to say this, I just don't understand this.

01:11There may be double standards still, but to say that a woman has to be perfect, it is

01:18His point is that if a woman isn't perfect, then whatever that imperfection is, is magnified.

01:27He's talking about a movie with two incredibly well-regarded women in the lead roles, both

01:33of whom will likely get Academy Award nominations.

01:36He is married to an exceptionally famous, successful actress, who has had, by the way,

01:42a lot of difficulty with a lot of people on set and different roles she's been in, but

01:46nevertheless has come through as one of the most successful people in Hollywood.

01:50It's an interesting message from Ryan Reynolds.
