A special Stafford guided walk bringing the towns historic buildings to life happens next week.

The Stafford Heritage trail walk aims to educate and entertain as it takes you on an informative walk around the towns historical buildings.

00:00Ollie how are you sir? I'm good thank you. So we're here in Stafford and in the shadow of the

00:05ancient high house just behind you there. That's your kind of base isn't it where you work out of?

00:09That is that is my base as the events coordinator here that's where we work we run the castle and

00:13the high house on the cottage but yeah that's the base. Looking forward getting into a full

00:17season of events coming up I'm sure? Yeah I've just come down from the office after planning

00:21all the way to Christmas 2025 I know it's only just before Christmas 2024 but yeah.

00:25Yeah yeah well you've got a rather special event coming up on the 15th is that right? Yeah it is

00:30it's next week the 15th of January Wednesday at around 10 30 meeting at the high house we've got

00:36our heritage town trail which is a regular event we run and it is a walking tour of Stafford that

00:42goes through all the history of the local buildings a lot of the local you know history

00:46of Stafford and its origins and it's led by our wonderful Gillian who's our town trail guide

00:52which is just yeah it's brilliant. People sometimes forget we are kind of blessed with a wealth of

00:57fantastic buildings in Stafford aren't we and fantastic stories that come with them. Yeah

01:01absolutely Stafford is a very old town and people forget that yeah. How special is the ancient high

01:06house in particular? Well it is a very special building working in there I feel very lucky it

01:11is the tallest timber frame Tudor townhouse in you know in the UK still yeah and yeah it's had

01:17a lot of interesting history like a stay by Charles I as well gathering forces for the

01:23coming war but yes yes it has it's steeped in history and I think a lot of people that live

01:27in Stafford have walked past it for 60 odd years and don't realise it's there and have never been

01:31in but it's free admission and you should definitely pop in next time you're in Stafford

01:34if you've not been in before. Well that's it you've got a cracking little gift shop in there

01:37with some lovely gifts and books and you also quite often have revolving exhibitions as well

01:42don't you? We do we've got revolving exhibitions I was just looking at those for this year as well

01:46and we've got loads of events other than the town trail as well we have workshops if you fancy like

01:49some more bespoke workshops or we have huge events at Stafford Castle such as the wildlife at the

01:54castle or the Viking reenactment which are absolutely brilliant family fun days out suitable

01:58for everyone absolutely everyone. What's the best place for people to find out a bit more where
