Meta to receive licence soon, says Fahmi

Meta is set to receive its licence shortly after communications regulators complete their review of several follow-up documents, says Fahmi Fadzil. 00:46even though there is a sub-application in the platform called YouTube Shorts.

00:56In terms of UX, user experience, it is similar to TikTok,

01:04with elements of sharing and commenting.

01:09We see that there is a social media aspect.

01:16That is why I ask MCMC to continue the discussion,

01:23and give us some time.

01:25For example, if YouTube can explain how many users use the Shorts application,

01:34and whether they want to turn Shorts into a different application in a short period of time.

01:44There is a technical aspect, but there is also a planning aspect for the platforms,

01:53including Google and YouTube in particular.

01:57So, please give us some time.

01:59At the same time, if there are any content that violates the law,

02:08I see that platforms can still be contacted to take action.

02:15Can you share which social media platforms have applied for the licensing?

02:21I have mentioned this before.

02:26But as of today, as of yesterday afternoon,

02:30WeChat has received the licensing,

02:34TikTok and also Telegram.

02:37Meta, as of yesterday, they have sent several documents

02:44to make a review of several things that have been raised by MCMC.

02:53And I expect that the process will go smoothly.

02:59So, as of now, three have received the licensing,

03:05which are WeChat, TikTok and Telegram.

03:11Meta is coming soon. Very, very soon.

03:14Another two are Google, which is trying to get YouTube,

03:19and X is still in discussion with MCMC.

03:22There are reporters asking about the LinkedIn platform.

03:26So, I have asked MCMC to investigate.

03:30There is also LinkedIn, which has more than 8 million users in Malaysia.

03:35And if they need, if they are also described as social media,

03:41then maybe we will contact LinkedIn later.
