This is absolutely shocking. I cannot believe that Cornwall Council thinks that they can get away with this.
00:06
This screams of greed, laziness and a massive lack of care for people in Cornwall.
00:11
We know that Cornwall Council have been failing to manage the car parking situation.
00:17
Our elected councillors have decided that the best way to sort out our car parking situation
00:23
is to sell them off. Yeah that's right, 28 car parks across Cornwall are going to be handed
00:29
over to private companies. These sorts of companies councils across the country wouldn't
00:34
dream of working with because of their punitive and profit-making business models but Cornwall
00:38
Council have decided that they want to hand our car parks over to them. So we've just got a few
00:44
days to register our concern but we're also starting a petition and a campaign which is
00:49
sort it out don't sell it off. So if you want to help stop these car parks going into private hands
00:56
then sign the petition below. There's a list of all the car parks that are up for being handed over
01:00
and help us put the pressure on Cornwall Council to stop the sell-off and instead pressure them
01:06
to sort them out. These private companies do not put people at the heart of their business models
01:12
they put profits and it will be a travesty. The only people that will benefit are the car parking
01:18
companies who will get these contracts. So this is why we're asking everyone to sign the petition
01:24
to ask Cornwall Council to stop the sell-off and instead sort out the parking situation.
