Search continues for bushwalker lost in Kosciuszko National Park

Bushwalker Hadi Nazari was last seen by friends on December 26, 2024.

00:00Boxing day around the Gee High camp area in the Kosciuszko National Park.

00:22He's a 23 year old male from Melbourne.

00:25He was out hiking with some of his friends

00:28and appears to have become lost.

00:31The friends contacted police who commenced a search and rescue operation on Boxing Day.

00:39That search and rescue operation is ongoing

00:43and we have the assistance of our partner agencies here assisting with the search

00:47and we're very thankful for their assistance in this matter.

00:51Since the commencement of the search operation

00:55we've had up to 300 people in total in the field conducting searches.

01:00The terrain is very dense, a lot of thick bushland and growth and also very steep

01:07so it's quite uncomfortable for the searchers.

01:11Since we've been searching on New Year's Eve

01:15we located some rubbish as well as a hiking pole believed to be Mr Nazari's

01:20and also just recently on Sunday we discovered a campfire area as well as a lighter

01:26and a camera and camera case which we've confirmed also belonged to Mr Nazari.

01:31That area now is an increased focus for us with this search

01:36and we have search teams out in the field at the moment conducting searches still of the search area.

01:43We'll continue with the search until we're content that we've covered every area that we possibly can.

01:51During this time we've been keeping the family updated on the search

01:55and they're actually out there assisting as well with some of the searches.

01:59We have specially trained police staff and staff from the other partner agencies as well out in the field.

02:05As I said it's very dense, very thick bushland

02:09and the people that are out there are specially trained in alpine searches.
