00:00The new measures that we're announcing today are about stopping criminal gangs
00:04and potential people smugglers earlier with new powers to be able to restrict
00:09their access to travel, to finances, to phones, particularly where there is a
00:13high threshold of evidence and serious immigration or other crime may be about
00:18to occur. The new interim serious crime prevention orders are a new tool and go
00:25further than existing powers. They will enable law enforcement agencies to act
00:30much more quickly to stop serious organized immigration crime and do so by
00:36making sure that we can prevent those who are undertaking such crime from for
00:43example destroying evidence or changing their tactics. These are going to be an
00:48invaluable tool in tackling these criminal gangs that are undermining our
00:52border security and putting lives at risk. They are going to be extremely
00:57important as part of that toolkit for law enforcement agencies but also as
01:02part of the measures we must take to strengthen our borders and save lives.
