China prosecutes 39 members of major telecom fraud gangs in northern Myanmar

A total of 39 members of major criminal groups based in northern Myanmar were prosecuted in China on Monday for telecommunications fraud and other serious crimes targeting civilians in China.

Prosecutors in Wenzhou City are spearheading the cases which involved cross-border crimes

The main members of the criminal group, including the main culprits responsible for the death

of Chinese citizens, 39 of whom are under the supervision of the Wenzhou People's Procuratorate.

The other thousands of criminals are under the jurisdiction of the Wenzhou City District

There are 16 Myanmar citizens in this case.

But they committed serious crimes such as intentional killing in Myanmar.

The prosecutors said the accused are linked to the family-run Ming syndicate founded by

the late Mai-Shout Hakyan, who was a former member of Myanmar's Shan State Parliament.

They said they are seeking death penalty for the accused whose actions were brutal and

had endangered public safety.

They said they had examined over 1,100 volumes of files, nearly 15,000 evidences, and more

than 50 terabytes of data to build a case against the suspects.
