00:00I am Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yazid Bin Bajuri, from the Autopedic Department,
00:09Chancellor Tuan Ku Mukriz Hospital, Malaysian National University.
00:15The idea of MyBone came to me when I was treating a patient named Yusha.
00:20I knew for sure that there was a weakness in the treatment techniques at that time.
00:29One of the reasons was that she took a long time to recover her bones.
00:35But because of this patient, we came up with an idea to make a bone cartilage.
00:41The bones that have been removed can be reconnected using only the cartilage,
00:46and we put bone growth cells in the cartilage.
00:52After going through the treatment and rehabilitation,
00:58in about three to four months,
01:01we found that Yusha's bones were getting better,
01:05and became a good quality that was able to function normally.
01:12Initially, this innovation came after I was sure that there was a weakness
01:18in the treatment techniques at that time.
01:23One of the reasons was that she took a long time to recover her bones.
01:29At the same time, we also needed a high cost to buy an implant.
01:36Therefore, I and my team from the Center for Tissue Rejuvenation
01:40thought about whether there was an easier way to help bone growth.
01:46I came up with the idea that maybe we could put a bone cartilage
01:51which is made from a material that can be placed in the bone,
01:58which is usually used as a bone graft or bone replacement in orthopedic surgery.
02:06From there, we made a cartilage which was mimicked
02:13or resembled in the original shape of the bone,
02:18which has a hard cartilage on the outside and a porous cartilage on the inside.
02:25Together with Prof. Angela, we felt that the cells could be placed
02:31in the porous bone area that we created,
02:36so that the cells on top of the bone could connect with the cells below the bone.
02:44When the cells can connect with each other,
02:47it creates a bone structure that can be a bridge
02:52so that the cells can continue to connect with each other
02:55and form a genuine bone.
