00:00Hello there, good evening, hope you've enjoyed the festivities over the last couple of days.

00:05Even despite the fairly grey and drab skies, many have seen some quite misty and murky

00:10scenes for some of us during Boxing Day and this mist and fog will be continuing, particularly

00:16across central and southern areas as we head throughout the evening and overnight period.

00:19It will turn thicker and denser in places as well, so some notable reductions in visibility

00:25around the cloud, thick enough to produce outbreaks of drizzle as well and some more

00:28persistent areas of rain affecting the far north-west of Scotland.

00:32Underneath for the cloud though, temperatures aren't going to drop off too far, it'll be

00:36cool but not too chilly.

00:38Temperatures generally in towns and cities between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius.

00:43During Friday then it is worth noting if you're going to be travelling first thing, if you're

00:47heading back to work, that there could be some delays on the roads and other transport

00:51issues due to this mist and fog that will be around.

00:53Some of it could persist right throughout the day, very murky, very grim in places.

00:59Again spots of drizzle are possible with the north-western parts of Scotland seeing the

01:03most persistent rain throughout the day.

01:06Temperatures underneath this cloud on the thermometer generally between 7 and 10 degrees

01:10Celsius.

01:11There will be an ever so slight change as we do head into the weekend though, because

01:16on Saturday this cold front that's in the north-west is slowly going to make its way

01:21south-eastwards, and I do mean very slowly.

01:25So that band of rain will be pushing across more central areas of Scotland into parts

01:29of Northern Ireland during the morning, but to the north of it we'll start to see some

01:33sunnier and clearer spells arriving, so a touch more brightness here.

01:37This will be accompanied by some blustery showers, gales developing around the northern

01:40coast of Scotland, but for much of England and Wales Saturday remains very grey, again

01:44further mist and fog around.

01:47Temperatures starting to drop down by a few degrees in a lot of places because of a lack

01:51of sunshine in the south-east, so 7, 8 degrees Celsius here, we might just squeeze up into

01:56double digits in some very localised spots.

01:59It is worth noting that into the new week things could turn a lot more unsettled, particularly

02:06across Scotland where there is the potential for snow, very strong winds and some heavy

02:11rain at times, so it's worth staying up to date with the forecast as we head towards

02:15New Year's just to see if any of that could impact any of your celebrations.
