00:00In 2023, the ban on fireworks in public places in Quezon City is still in effect even in front of houses.

00:09But the DOH is pushing for an absolute ban on fireworks.

00:14And JP Soriano was the one who was affected.

00:19A part of the body was cut off.

00:21The body was cut off or maybe it was blown away.

00:25But the worst is yet to come.

00:28In the 2024 earthquake, for example, two people died after a firework exploded.

00:35After a man smoked a cigarette while drinking,

00:40more than six people were injured in the firework,

00:43according to the DOH during the earthquake in 2024.

00:48These scenarios are being avoided as much as possible whenever the new year is approaching.

00:54That's why in Vazra, Quezon City,

00:57We will not blow up the skeletons.

01:00We will only blow up the basketball court.

01:04The barangay officials are now going around to remind their barangay

01:08the designated community firecrackers or fireworks display zone

01:13if they will blow up and light up.

01:16It is also prohibited to blow up in houses, especially on terraces.

01:20Last December, the Quezon City issued an ordinance

01:24that it is prohibited to blow up in public places,

01:27even outside or in front of the house.

01:31In Barangay Vazra, in this mini park, it is allowed to blow up.

01:34Before the DOH approves a designated area,

01:38it must comply with the safety requirements of the fire code,

01:42such as having a large space and no adjacent fire hazard structures.

01:48It is only legal or allowed to blow up or light up on December 31.

01:55Ian is in support of the tradition of blowing up whenever the new year is approaching.
