00:22Aljo, you know, there are already 15 people who were burned by the Bureau of Fire Protection

00:26because of the explosion, but the number of people who were burned is still lower this December 2024

00:33compared to December 2023.

00:38Ruena has a family of six, and her family is one of the informal settlers in Santa Ana, Manila.

00:44Their house is also made of light materials because the fire seems to go out quickly.

00:50Their house was already affected by the fire, so they don't want it to happen again.

00:54She knows that one of the possible causes of the fire is the explosion,

00:58now that the new year is approaching.

01:01It's scary, because if you say that there are scattered garbage,

01:06there is a possibility that it will cause a fire.

01:08Especially if you throw it in a part of the house where there is a trash can and you throw the garbage there.

01:13It's really dangerous, it can cause a fire in the house.

01:18That's what we're afraid of.

01:20But aside from the explosion, it seems that there is another problem in Santa Ana, Manila.

01:24The spaghetti wires are also one of the possible causes of the fire.

01:28That's why this holiday season, the Department of Interior and Local Government, or DILG,

01:34is really concerned that there are 78,000 police and firefighters across the country.

01:38They are the personnel who will guard the safety of our countrymen and the safety of the new year.

01:4640,000 are expected to come from the PNP, and 38,000 from the BFP.

01:53It's good news, because the number of fires reported this December 2024 is less compared to December 2023.

02:01According to the Bureau of Fire Protection,

02:03of the 724 fire incidents, this December 1 to December 24 of this year were reported.

02:11This is lower than the 1,112 that were reported last December.

02:18But the 15 fire incidents that were reported this year were due to the explosion.

02:23The DILG promised that they will continue their efforts for a safer country.

02:28Meanwhile, according to PNP spokesperson and Information Chief Brigadier General Gene Fajardo,

02:34there were no night-alarm-toward incidents during the Christmas Festival.

02:38The Bureau of Fire Protection has a red alert status until January 2.

02:43This means that all BFP personnel are on-call to respond if necessary.

02:49The Bureau of Fire Protection is really eager to spread fire safety awareness

02:55and to promote fire prevention rather than response or suppression.

03:00The BFP is also asking the local governments to implement a total ban on explosions.

03:06BFP Makati is one of the cities with the lowest number of fire incidents in NCR.

03:12It is believed that the information drive for the fire incident is huge.
