Launch of W.Ave Arts' Community Bus at The Compound, Bexhill Road, St Leonards on December 22.

00:00Today we have the opening of the bus, it's been something that's been in the process

00:07for about a year now, so we're very excited.

00:10We have a mini Christmas market that's happening today and we want all the communities to come

00:16and enjoy basically the expansion of what we're doing here at the compound.

00:20So you'll be able to use it for workshops, coffee mornings, exhibitions and pretty much

00:26anything that you can think of is the kind of idea that come to us and we'll try and

00:32make it happen, that's the point of the compound really and just get everybody working together

00:37and create a nice space for people to use.

00:39I bought the bus when we first started refurbing the place, so about two years ago

00:45and the idea was, actually I've bought it off Facebook market of all places,

00:51the idea was to get a container but then I thought a bus would be far more exciting for everybody.

00:57And it's taken about two months to refurb it and we got Arts Council England funding

01:07so that has been absolutely brilliant for us, having that funding has really helped us be

01:16able to do something like this for the community.

01:18For us the idea of the bus is that it's an expansion of the compound,

01:22it's somewhere that can be warm and it can be anything,

01:26so it's a multifunctional space for the entire community

01:31and if you've got an idea come to us with your idea and we'll work on a plan to make it happen

01:37or it could be used for coffee mornings or it could be used as a chess club, a book club,

01:44an exhibition space, a pop-up shop, I think the possibilities are endless.
