Horror movie set to film in Chichester, Selsey and Amberley

Horror is coming to Chichester, Selsey and Amberley in February 2025 with the filming of The Death Of Us.

00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Really lovely

00:06this morning to speak to Bella Rich. Now exciting times, you've moved back to the area, moved

00:10back to Celsie and you are in early 2025 filming a horror film with you in the lead and you're

00:17directing and you've written it. So set the scene, obviously don't give me too much, but

00:22just set the scene, what's happening in this film.

00:25So our story follows a really lovely young couple called Dani and Casey Harper who have

00:31kind of been thrust into the spotlight from Dani's really successful book. They both come

00:36from nothing and essentially they are then thrown into a really unfortunate home invasion

00:43that goes wrong. And our story follows the recovery of these two characters whilst being

00:48haunted by this kind of extreme entity and how they deal with their lives being in the

00:53spotlight, but also seeing this horrible, horrible creature. So that is a bit about

01:01it.

01:02You are absolutely a fan of horror, you love it. Why? What does it do to you that you like?

01:12I think horror is like really important. I also, I think from like where I've worked

01:17so much behind the scenes, I look at these films and I go, how did they do that? That's

01:22really impressive. Or like, where is this going to go? And there's always so many twists,

01:27like you're always, always guessing what's going to happen next. And also with horror,

01:32it's something I've always watched with my mum. So it really kind of, I still watch them

01:37now with my mum, but it just reminds me of my whole childhood. And a lot of that was

01:41spent watching horror films. Obviously nice age appropriate ones and then building our

01:47way up. But yeah.

01:49That's missing the point if you watch age appropriate horror films, isn't it?

01:53Oh yeah, but I'm going to say it's age appropriate.

01:55Fine, fair enough. And you'll be filming this then in February 2025, using locations including

02:03Chichester and Salsey and Amberley. It's a good area around here for filmmaking, isn't

02:09it?

02:10It's really nice for it. Everyone's also really accommodating. So I've spoken to quite a few

02:14different local businesses and they've been like, yeah, if we can pop you in or like give

02:18you some time in between our closing hours, they've been really, really accommodating.
