00:03Star Media Group Berhad
00:04Star Media Group Berhad celebrated its 55th anniversary on Wednesday,
00:07and its chairman Tan Sri Wang Funming said it is time to reflect on a journey defined by trust, reliability
00:13and progress.
00:14From its beginning as a local Penang tabloid in 1971,
00:21that same spirit has driven Star Media Group's evolution from a newspaper
00:28into a multi-platform organisation with a presence across both media and non-media spaces.
00:39From print, digital and radio to events, community initiative and stakeholders engagement.
00:50Over the years, we have achieved many important milestones.
00:55From taking the star into the digital age, to extending our reach beyond Malaysia,
01:02through initiatives such as Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium, or in short form is EPIC,
01:11which is a cross-border media alliance that brings together regional partners
01:16to advance sustainability and green economic growth across Southeast Asia.
01:25And further strengthening our presence in the region, we are also a founding member for Asia News Network,
01:36of which currently our Datin Paduka Esther is the chairperson of this network.
01:43I wish to connect us with media organisations across the region,
01:47and giving us a broader platform to share stories, ideas and perspectives.
01:54He said SMG's commitment had always been grounded in truth, strengthened by resilience,
02:00and driven by its commitment to serving Malaysians.
02:03He said this was reflected in SMG's 55th anniversary theme,
02:07Inspiring Progress, Shaping Tomorrow.
02:09And when we look back, we are reminded that behind every milestone, every story, and every achievement are people.
02:20So on this occasion too, we honour our 50 long service award recipients,
02:2824 of them celebrating 15 years, and 26 marking an extraordinary 25 years with Star Media Group.
02:40Thank you so much for all your contribution.
02:43The 15-year recipients received Tissot watches,
02:47while those marking 25 years were presented with gold coins, alongside certificates of appreciation.
02:53SMG also hailed its anniversary initiatives,
02:56including the Star Archive and Pixel, a 55-day digital visual diary featuring memorable images captured by its photographers.
