00:00Now, finally, in this half hour, a story of hope for you from Brazil.

00:04Starts off a little bit nastily, has a happy ending, though, I assure you.

00:08First off, this is a cockroach heron,

00:10the largest species of heron in Latin America,

00:12found, as you can see, with that 200mm cup of a popular drink

00:16stuck around its neck in Rio de Janeiro.

00:18Close race against time,

00:20following to save the bird's life from plastic pollution.

00:23And you'll be glad to know it worked.

00:25Here it is, the cage opening after a short hesitation,

00:28the heron opening its wings once again and flying out over the river.

00:32The vet's saying they believe she will manage very well,

00:35assuming, of course, she stays away from any more plastic cups.

00:45From now on, she'll have a normal life.

00:47I believe she will manage very well.

00:50She was not too thin, nor did she weigh more than what she should.

00:53So, from now on, I believe she will manage very well on her own.

00:57And, God willing, she won't find any plastic or cups on her way.
